Me: Did you always know that you would write a book someday?      

Alex:  I, Alex, knew I loved writing and had dreams of someday writing a book.  I had thought that it would be a fantasy novel but didn’t know it would turn out to be real life fantasies.

Courtney:  I knew Alex had it in him to write but have been really jazzed to be part of the process.  I get to be muse, confidant, and editor all rolled up in one.

Me: What inspired you to write this book?

Alex:  I’d been fumbling around with a fantasy novel for several years and was suffering writer’s block.  It was about that time that we started swinging and the crazy experiences begged to be put on paper.  It’s almost been as fun to reminisce and write about as it was to have the carnal adventures to begin with.

Courtney: I know that part of it was that I suggested Alex just write about anything to get through his writer’s block.  I didn’t know he was going to share such intimate details!  However, I’m the one pushing and have enjoyed the journey thoroughly.

Me: How did the cover of your book come to be?  Is it exactly like you envisioned?

Alex:  We looked at some of the other books in the genre on Amazon and the covers looked like tarted up romance books.  We couldn’t bring ourselves to buy stock images of models being provocative when the book was about us and our experiences.  So, the images are of Courtney’s very own sexy legs!

Courtney: Ha!  Yes, those are my legs on the front covers of our books. I hope they don’t get recognized by any of our extended family!  FYI, I work hard in the gym for those legs and I’m happy my husband wanted them on the cover instead of some model. 

Me: Do you intend to keep writing?

Alex: We have another book almost ready to publish and have enough material to continue real life swinging stories for another book or two.

Courtney: I guess if we run out of material that we will just have to swing a bunch more!

 Me: What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

Alex:  I guess it would be that I must write when the kids can’t read over my shoulder.

Courtney: We have to huddle in bed at night and write together.  Many times we get so turned on writing that we have to, shall we say, pause for a bit.

 Me: How many books have you written?  Do you plan on writing more?

Alex: We’ve written two so far and would like to write more.  We’ve used the down time caused by the pandemic to really work on our swinging blog and write.  As the world goes back to something like normal, we will have to find ways to keep writing.

Courtney: He’s being modest.  Alex has a travel blog and is still working on his fantasy novel.  I will keep pushing him and we will churn these all out together.

Me: Was there any interesting tidbits you edited out of this book?”

Alex: What a question for a book about swinging!  Yes, there are quite a few amazing experiences that are alive only in our minds.

Courtney: Some of our playmates were concerned about being in a book, even with false names and altered descriptions.  We have left out anything that our friends weren’t comfortable sharing.  

Me: What got you into swinging?

Alex: Spoiler alert!  That’s the first part of our book Swinging Surprise.  We got into it because of me.  I think it was part mid-life crisis and part curiosity.

Courtney: It was completely Alex.  I was perfectly happy with our sex life and was surprised when he broached the subject.  I’m adventurous but that sure seemed out there!  However, I’m a supportive wife and we did all this together.  It’s been a hoot!

Me: Do you recommend swinging to other couples?

Alex: Well, that’s hard to answer as everyone are in different places in relationships and life.  It’s been great for us and we offer lots of advice in the books to help folks figure out for themselves about swinging.

Courtney: Alex is quibbling!  I would recommend it to everyone.  We have had so much fun and have grown together because of our swinging.  Our trust has grown, our sex is even better, and we have a ton of funny stories we can only tell other swingers and our readers.

Me: Are you worried about being outed as swingers?

Alex: Yes, we have a very conservative extended family who wouldn’t be able to understand.  Society isn’t ready to let folks be free to express their sexuality totally.

Courtney:  It would be easier if we were gay or transgender to be outed!  Swinging is one of the last taboos.

Me: How true to life are your descriptions of swinging experiences?

Alex: Names and some descriptions have been altered to protect the (not so) innocent.  However, most of the, “action,” is as real as we could piece together afterwards. When we say the play session lasted over four hours, it lasted over four fantastic hours!

Courtney:  Working together to remember the experiences is a huge part of the fun.  We have left out a couple of details here and there but, to be truthful, we haven’t exaggerated at all.  Our record is six hours of nearly non-stop action!
